School For Sleep Techs

CPSGT & RPSGT Focused Program

A BRPT STAR-Approved program built around the BRPT exam blueprint, preparing you for the CPSGT and RPSGT exams with coursework, lecture hours, and hands-on training.

CPSGT & RPSGT Focused Program

Prepare for the CPSGT and RPSGT exams with our BRPT STAR-Approved Focused Program. The program follows the four domains of the BRPT exam blueprint and combines structured coursework, lecture hours, and hands-on training, so you’re ready for exam day and for real work in the sleep lab.

Course material draws on industry-standard references, including the AASM Manual for the Scoring of Sleep and Associated Events and the ICSD-3. Lessons are short and focused, you can replay them as often as you need, and you can retake every quiz until you’re confident. No prerequisites are required.

What You'll Learn

The program is organised around the four domains of the BRPT exam blueprint. Each domain is broken into focused tasks, so you can master one area at a time and see exactly where you stand before your exam.

Patient Care & Education

Clinical assessment, sleep disorders, medications, patient education, and PAP adherence support.

Technical Preparation & Procedures

Electrode application, instrumentation, adult and pediatric PSG, MSLT, MWT, home sleep testing, and artifact troubleshooting.

Scoring & Reporting

Scoring adult, pediatric, and infant studies, including sleep stages, respiratory, movement, and cardiac events, plus report generation.

Therapeutic Intervention

PAP acclimation and titration, oxygen therapy, and alternative treatment options.

Course Outline: Your Path Through the Exam Blueprint

  • Task A: Patient Information & Clinical Assessment. Clinician’s orders, chart review, and the major sleep disorder categories: insomnia, sleep-related breathing disorders, hypersomnias, circadian rhythm disorders, parasomnias, and movement disorders. Also covers common medications and patient orientation.
  • Task B: Patient & Caregiver Education. Sleep hygiene, therapy compliance, and explaining sleep testing to patients and caregivers.
  • Task C: Provider Therapy Support. PAP adherence from diagnosis through long-term follow-up, and assessing downloaded PAP reports.

  • Task C: Identify, Respond & Document. Recognising and correcting artifact, impedance and signal quality, troubleshooting, and physiological calibrations.
  • Task A: Scoring Adult Studies. Sleep staging, arousals, respiratory events, movement events, and cardiac events.
  • Task B: Scoring Pediatric & Infant Studies. When pediatric and infant rules apply, age-specific staging, and pediatric respiratory scoring.
  • Task C: Generating & Verifying Reports. Report parameters, sleep and event data, and MSLT/MWT summaries.

  • Task A: PAP Therapy. PAP acclimation and desensitization, CPAP and BPAP titration protocols, split-night studies, and documentation.
  • Task B: Alternative Therapies. Treatment options beyond PAP therapy.
  • Task C: Oxygen Therapy. Oxygen delivery, precautions, and titration during PSG and PAP studies.
